Story

In many rural parts of India, malnutrition continues to be a silent crisis affecting young children and lactating mothers. Despite government support, countless families struggle to meet their daily nutritional needs. At Bharat Calling, we believe that small, community-driven solutions can bring big changes. Our project “Poshnam – Micronutrition with Livelihood through Solar Drying” has already shown powerful results, and now we seek your support to expand its reach.

Over the past year, we worked with 300 children under 10 years and lactating mothers to introduce simple yet effective micronutritional interventions. By fortifying locally available foods with solar-dried beetroot powder, roasted wheat gram, and 16 herbs, children not only enjoyed tastier meals but also showed visible improvements in appetite, digestion, weight gain, and immunity. Mothers reported that children started finishing their meals—something they had not experienced before. This impact proves that nutrition can be affordable, sustainable, and locally sourced.

The uniqueness of this initiative lies in the method: solar drying. An age-old, eco-friendly technique, solar drying minimizes food waste, uses renewable energy, and preserves nutritional value. More importantly, it places the process in the hands of community women, empowering them as changemakers. Women are trained to prepare, package, and distribute solar-dried products—ensuring both nutrition for their families and livelihood opportunities for themselves.

With your contribution, we plan to:

  • Provide solar dryers to women’s groups so they can locally prepare nutritious food products.
  • Offer training and handholding support to 15 women over six months.
  • Ensure micronutritional food support for 90 children through solar-dried products.
  • Conduct scientific testing on children and lactating mothers to document health improvements.
  • Develop a recipe book showcasing affordable, solar-dried food fortification techniques and local success stories.

Our financial requirement is ₹5,86,740, covering dryers, training, nutritional supplements for children, packaging, documentation, awareness campaigns, and program coordination. Every rupee you contribute will go directly towards scaling this initiative and supporting rural families.

Imagine a child in a small village who once refused food, now happily finishing meals and asking for more. Picture women not only nourishing their families but also generating sustainable income through solar drying. This is the transformation your support can create.

By backing this campaign, you are not just donating—you are investing in:

  • Healthier children with stronger immunity and brighter futures.
  • Empowered women with skills and livelihood opportunities.
  • Sustainable communities that embrace renewable energy and local solutions.

Join us in bringing nutrition and dignity to rural families. Together, we can ensure that no child goes to bed hungry and every mother feels confident about her child’s health.

Support “Poshnam” today and be part of a grassroots movement for healthier, stronger, and self-reliant communities.
